Pollution concept - Definition, Meaning and What it is

The word contamination comes from the Latin contaminatĭo and refers to the action and effect of contaminating .This verb, for its part, is use to name the harmful alteration of the purity or normal conditions of a thing or a means by chemical or physical agents .

Contaminate also it is to alter the form of a word or text by the influence of another; pervert and corrupt faith or customs; and desecrate or break God's law .

In short, pollution is the introduction into any medium of a contaminant .The most common use of the term occurs in the field of ecology with what It is known as environmental pollution , which is the presence in the environment of any agent (physical, chemical or biological) in places, forms and concentrations that may be harmful to health , the security or for the well-being of the population .

The dynamic of pollutants is responsible for studying the action of these agents from the moment they are generated until their final disposition.Among the phenomena of the dynamic appear the dispersion , the concentration , the transfer and the transformation .

Regarding the classification of pollution according to the affected environment, we can talk about air pollution , water pollution , soil pollution and acoustic pollution , among others.

Going a little deeper to analyze the different types of pollution, we can establish that the so-called atmospheric call is that which, as its name implies, consists in releasing a series of chemical substances into the atmosphere giving rise not only to the fact that it is see modified but also that there is a serious risk to the health of any living being.

In this sense, we must also state that we are becoming very aware of the need to care for and protect the environment from this type of pollution, which is why environmental sustainability projects and initiatives are emerging with which levels are reduced of CO2 that are released into the atmosphere with the clear objective of improving the quality of life of citizens.

In the case of aquatic pollution, what is produced is the release of waste, such as garbage or sewage, that reaches the rivers and seas, while in the soil what takes place is the penetration into the land of harmful chemicals for it.

Finally, the aforementioned acoustic pollution is one of the ones that has taken more prominence in our current society, especially in cities around the world and it is in them where any citizen is most exposed to not being able to fall asleep or to not be able to live your life in a relaxed way as a result of traffic or airplane noises that take off and land at your airports.
