What is syntax? »Its Definition and Meaning [2019]
It is that field, within grammar, that studies and establishes the rules to promote a correct combination of words, the ways in which the compositions can be established, in addition to the syntagmatic relationships and paradigmatic between the words.
Similarly, one of the most common cases where the resource is used is in the sentence, in which the syntactic constitution can be observed objectively, in hierarchical groups of terms; these, in turn, can be classified, taking into account the work they do as constituents of the sentence, being more notable those who play an important role , however, they can also be analyzed by dividing them into constituents less complex.
Basically, the syntax is oriented to the description and identification of the elements that make up a sentence; In spite of this, there is a classification carried out under the principle of their functions that they fulfill: the first one is in charge of performing the aforementioned work, as well as investigating how language development was developed as a tool for communication with extreme functionality being, in fact, called functional syntax; On the other hand, the generative syntax is dedicated to analyzing how the human brain is able to find meaning and organize the words in a unconscious way, being part of a primitive and basic constituent of the natural language .
Normally, during the identification of the constituents of the sentences, we tend to use abbreviations , which accurately describe the element found, these are: ST : time phrase or sentence, SN: noun phrase , SD: determinative phrase, SV: verbal phrase, SC: complementary phrase, SP: prepositional phrase, N: name, adjective or pronoun, V: verb , P: preposition, C: complement, D: determinant ; each one represents certain words in a grammatical construction, from the time the described event happened, to the protagonist of it.
