The word siome is not too used, but has its place in areas as popular as tango , specifically in the Chamullo theme Siome from the album of the same name by the band Lafleur Tango Trio, released in 1998.
The term siome derives from miscio, which in the Genoese dialect means poor .The Rioplateans transformed it into mishio and, as is typical of lunfardo, turned the word into siome.
While some lunfardo words crossed borders, siome failed to penetrate beyond Argentina and Uruguay as if other terms that are already part of Latin American colloquial language did.
