Before proceeding to know the meaning of the term coordinative capabilities, it is essential to know the etymological origin of the two words that shape it:-Capabilities derives from Latin, specifically "capacitas" and can be defined as "the quality of able ”.-Coordinativas, on the other hand, comes from the Latin verb“ coordinate ”, which can be translated as“ order ”or“ combine ”.

The coordinative capacities are part of the so-called physical abilities : the conditions of the organism that are usually linked to the development of a certain action or activity.These capacities are established by the genes, but can be perfected through training.


Physical capabilities are divided into conditional capabilities and coordinative capabilities .Conditional physical capabilities are linked to the possibility of making a move in the least amount of time possible ( speed ), to maintain a prolonged effort ( resistance ), to enable the maximum possible travel of an articulation ( flexibility ) and to overcome a resistance through stress ( strength ).

In addition to the above, we can highlight the fact that it is considered that the coordinative capacities are responsible for carrying out three functions basic.And they exercise a fundamental task in motor learning, in life in general and in high sports performance.


Coordinative capacities, on the other hand, are linked to the orderly provision of the actions to fulfill an objective.The following are part of this type of physical capacity:-The orientation, which can be defined as the ability of a person to determine both the position and movements of his body both in time and space.-Balance, which is the ability to maintain or even recover the position of the body during what is the realization of different movements or positions.-The rhythm, which is the ability to repeat an orderly structure of movements.-Differentiation, which a particularly accurate and economical coordination capacity.-The coupling or synchronization , which comes to be the ability to coordinate partial movements of the body with each other.-The change, which is the ability that the individual must have to be able to adapt to new situations.-Relaxation, which It is the ability to be able to release tension absolutely voluntarily from what the muscles are.


Specifically, the coordinative capabilities are those that allow a person to execute movements in an efficient, precise and economical way .The execution of a motor action that requires accuracy It depends on these coordinative abilities to achieve the correct location of the body at the right time.

A professional tennis player, for example, must strengthen all his physical abilities.Obviously he needs to have speed to move, flexibility to return the blows of the opponent, resistance to play several hours and strength to impact the ball.But he must also improve his coordinating abilities to react to each impact of his opponent, synchronizing his movements without becoming disoriented and reaching time to execute your own punches.
