Association concept - Definition
The association is a combination or relationship that is established between people, things or ideas to fulfill a common purpose. If numbers can be associated in a mathematical equation, or words in a text.
In Biology, the association is the relationship between individuals belonging to the same species (intraspecific associations), such as what happens in the colonial association, which is a primary form where individuals are descendants of a single and primitive parent, which in the case of corals and motherpores are all identical.Other more complex intraspecific associations are gregarious, where individuals come together for protection, nutrition and defense, as is the case with sardine banks. On an even higher level, there are state associations, where individuals organize and divide their work, as do bees or ants.
Between different species interspecific associations are given. As an example of them we can name commensalism, where the diner feeds on another organism (the host) but without harming it, as it happens with the bacteria of the intestinal feces; or tenancy, where one individual seeks protection in another, such as the needlefish inside the holoturias; or symbiosis, where two individuals associate to benefit each other; or parasitism where the parasite feeds on the host, causing damage.
In the legal field associations, the group of people who organize themselves for a common, non-profit purpose, for a long time and in a democratic way, regardless of public powers and other civil and commercial entities are called. We can mention the Association of Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, or the AFA (Association of Argentine Soccer), or the AMIA (Mutual Association Israelite Argentina).
