Remission Note Meaning

The referral note is an internal commercial document of the companies, which serves as documentary evidence in any act of commercial sale purchase , whose function is to record, through the signature of the recipient, of the receipt of a merchandise order.

The main function of the referral note is to prove the delivery of an order in a timely manner, requiring as an indispensable condition the signature of who receives the merchandise so that it has legal validity.


The referral note has utility in the commercial sale, both for the buyer and the seller .

The buyer is used to compare it with the order note, for the purpose of verifying whether the request coincides with what has been received.In turn, it is useful to check that the billing is correct as long as the invoice coincides with what was received.


For the seller, the referral note is useful as proof, on the one hand of having delivered the merchandise under the signature of the recipient and on the other, that was accepted in accordance.


In addition to the listing of the products, for the referral note to be effective and valid, it must contain the business name of the selling company, the place and date where the delivery is made, and the personal data of the person who receives the merchandise.


The referral note is issued in duplicate for buyer and seller, listing the items or merchandise delivered for the purpose of subsequent control and billing.


But the most common is that the referral note is prepared in triplicate in order to deliver the third copy to the transporter in charge of the transfer , in case there are claims of any of the parties related to transportation.


The referral note is not considered an accounting document, since does not have a monetary or tax value such as invoices , a characteristic that differs from one another.The function of the referral note is exclusively of internal verification.
