In general, style refers to the overall appearance or design of an object, or method of performing a task.For example, in web development, a developer using CSS can quickly change the appearance of headings on all pages of a website at the same time.
In a word processor, such as Microsoft Word, a style is a set of text formatting features, such as font size, color, and alignment.For example, a user could select the "Title 1" style.to enlarge the text, blue and bold; all without having to apply each of the different formatting features individually.Also, the style can be adjusted at any time, meaning that if you have multiple "Title 1" pages in your document, modifying that style changes the appearance of all your headers automatically.
How to apply a style in Microsoft Word
- Highlight the text you want to change.
- Click the style you want the highlighted text to use.
How to change or modify a style in Microsoft Word
- In the style bar, similar to the example shown above, right-click the style you want to adjust.
- Click Modify Style .
- In the Modify Style box, change the characteristics to the ones you want, and then click OK.If any text in the open document has this style applied, it should automatically update to the new setting.
How to create a new quick style
A Quick Style is a style that is in the Microsoft Word list of styles that can be accessed at any time.If you format text the same way frequently, you can create a Style Quick to apply the same formatting to any text.To create a new quick style, follow the steps below.
- Format the text in a document to how you want your style to appear.
- Click the expand button below the scroll bar on the right side for a list of style options.
- Click Save Selection as Quick New Style .
- Give your new style a name and click OK.
