Probability: Concept, Methods and Uses

What is Probability?
The concept of probability comes from the Latin term probabilĭtas . In the first instance it is understood as the possibility that a certain probable event exists really happen .That fact may finally happen, or not happen.
The idea of probability is something that various thinkers have worked on throughout the history of mankind.These terms related exclusively to gambling already practiced more than five thousand years ago.The concept has undergone such changes and has been the subject of such particular interest that today the probability is even considered as one of the branches of mathematics.
In this case, probability is defined as the study and quantitative measurement of a given event happening or occurring.certain presuppositions of the context, its possible combinations and also makes use of the discipline of statistics.In this case the probabilities are usually represented in numbers greater than zero and less than one or in fractions.

What does it measure and what are the methods of probability?
In the binomial method it is only possible to obtain two results.
Within the theory of probability, we try to determine the number of times that a given result can happen , in order to know which event is the most likely.Some of the elements that have in account are the sample space, the events, the elementary events and the parts.
In the study of probability, three types of methods can be identified.
- The first is called the binomial distribution method. In this case it is possible to obtain two results, they are independent and exclusive of each other.For example if a coin is thrown I can get face or cross, when I get face I can't get cross and vice versa.
- The second method is called multiplication. In this case we determine a probability of several events that are independent of each other, that is to say that the results obtained will have no influence on the other results.
- The last method is that of the addition or rule of addition. In this case the possibility of a specific event is equivalent to the sum of the particular probabilities.This rule is given under the condition that events be mutually exclusive.
The areas in which the probability studies can be applied are diverse.Some examples are graphs or tables related to the purchase and sale of companies , they are also used in the censuses or in various studies of the social and natural sciences.The statistical tables usually reflect the so-called frequencies, be they accumulated, with intervals or double entry.In these tables the information collected in organized in a clear and visible way so that they are understandable easily.
Some of the great thinkers who worried about probability were for example Galileo Galilei ; to whom the basis for the subsequent foundation of the statistic is attributed, Blaise Pascal ; who formulated a theory about the properties of numbers that is still widely used, Pierre La place; who defined certain practical applications to the theory of probability, among many other thinkers.
