Bar Definition - What is it, Meaning and Concept

A bar is a piece longer than thick , made of metal , wood or other material, which is usually cylindrical or prismatic.This term has multiple uses depending on the context, since there is a wide variety of bars.

The bar can be the counter of a bar or of a similar trade.In the case of bars or some restaurants, the bar is used as a table so that the client, whether standing or sitting on a stool, can eat or drink Something: For example: "My grandfather spent hours and hours at the bar, drinking wine with his friends and discussing football" , "Let's go to the bar so we ordered drinks" , "I ate a slice of pizza at the bar and then went to the office" .

In Latin America , the notion of bar is used to name the public who attends the sessions d e an assembly or court, to the fan of an athlete or sports team and to the group of friends who meets frequently: “The Judge had to ask for silence to the bar several times ”, “ The bar of Deportivo San Pedro caused serious incidents at the stadium gate ”, “ Tomorrow I will have dinner with the bar to celebrate the Luis's birthday ”.


In addition to all of the above we can not overlook that bar is a word that is frequently used in what would be informatics, and that is the name given to all those rectangles full of icons that serve to carry out different operations both within a word processor and a spreadsheet and even while browsing the Internet.


In this regard there are many types of bars, although those of tools, menu, favorites, commands or even status ones take special prominence.


Also we can not forget that bar is also part of the name of an old sport that was practiced in Spain and that today is maintained in some areas as a tradition.We are referring to the Castilian bar, which is typical of the autonomous community from Castilla y Leon.


That basically is that the person who practices it, being within a square delimited on the ground, should throw as far as possible an iron bar that has dimensions of 75 centimeters in length.In this way he will win the participant who, complying with the rest of the established norms, is able to get his bar to be the one that reaches the furthest of all.
