The adjective reliable is used to qualify the one or thing that provides security , offers guarantees or is reliable .It can be a person, an object, a procedure, etc.

For example: “I need a reliable accountant to help me organize the accounts of the company.Do you know any professional to recommend me? ”, “ I will not publish anything about it until I receive reliable information : I don't want us to be wrong ” , "The mechanic told me that this truck has a very reliable engine" .

The word reliable is used especially in Spain, while Latin America prefers reliable .While these are synonymous, some dictionaries ensure that the first one includes the second in that they talk about something or someone "trustworthy" but also has the connotation that the reliable thing or subject "offers good results and a certain security ".

In a reliable individual it is possible to trust.Suppose a woman who lives alone is planning to go on vacation.In this situation, she decides to leave the key of her house to a neighbor so that he can water the plants and check that everything is in order.The woman will choose to give the key to that neighbor who seems most reliable: that is, who does not believe that she can steal or abuse her trust.
