Walking concept - Definition

The word walk originated from the verb walk, in turn taken from the Celtic, "cam", in the sense of "step", but the suffix "ata" that indicates that it is the effect of an action.


The walk involves moving on foot, step after step, without jogging or running, on a surface, which can be dirt, sand, grass, cement or a treadmill that can also be used for walk.


With the walk an exercise is highly recommended for all ages, especially for older adults, since it has almost no contraindications, and only comfortable shoes and clothes are needed, without requiring previous training, except for too long walks, more than 2 hours, at a rapid pace, that needs a previous medical check-up, and to arrive at that time gradually and with previous muscular warming.

The walk helps the cardiovascular, respiratory, muscular and bone system, In addition to allowing lower body weight, cholesterol and glycemia; and reduce stress.The time to have the expected results should not be less than 30 minutes a day, although you can start with minor lapses to get used to it.Water should be taken, to hydrate during the tour, and elongate, before and after exercise.


Going for a walk as an exercise, is not going for a walk, walking slowly, and holding back to look at stained glass, to talk or admire the landscape (what can be done, but still walking) but you have to do it sustained and rhythmic way.
