Definition of rum - What it is, Meaning and Concept

Ron is a concept that has its origin in rum , an English language term.The notion mentions a drink with alcohol which is made by fermenting and distilling the sugar cane .

The first records of rum preparation date from the 17th century .However, Historians believe that the ancient Greeks already made alcoholic beverages by fermenting sugar cane.Currently, countries like Cuba , Guatemala , Spain , Mexico , Jamaica , Panama and Puerto Rico are dedicated to rum production.


There are different types of rum.In terms of its color , it is usually differentiated between the white rum (which is actually transparent) and the rum dorado .Regarding its attachment, it is usual to draw the distinction between the attached rum (which remains parked between one and three years) and the old rum (parked over three years).

One of the most famous rum brands in the world is Bacardi .Born in Cuba in 1862 and currently has its headquarters in Bermuda , although many of its operations are carried out in Puerto Rico . Captain Morgan (which emerged in Jamaica ) and Havana Club (managed by a consortium in which the government of Cuba ) are other known brands of rum.

Cocktails with rum


Given the versatility of rum, it is possible to use it in the preparation of a large number of cocktails.The most used is white, since it allows the colors of the other ingredients to be maintained ( on the contrary, a golden or dark rum takes away brightness ).


Mojito


This cocktail emerged in Cuba, at the end of the 16th century and has a refreshing taste, without much taste of alcohol, but rather citric and with a sweet tone.It is one of the most known cocktails with rum worldwide , and its elaboration is relatively simple.

* Ingredients : Cuban white rum (4 centiliters); lime juice (3 centiliters); mint in branches (6); sugar (2 tablespoons); soda; cubed or crushed ice.


* Preparation : In a glass of normal dimensions, the mint branches, the sugar, a little lime juice are placed, and everything is stepped on to form a uniform mixture.An alternative to the juice of lime is to chop the fruit and use a mortar to also take advantage of its pulp .Pour part of the soda and complete the volume of the glass with ice.To finish, add the 4 centiliters of Cuban white rum, and soda is added again until the glass is filled.To decorate it is possible to use a slice of lime or lemon and mint leaves.


Pina Colada


This cocktail, also famous worldwide, comes from Puerto Rico, where it is its official drink since 1978 , although its origin is more remote: its creation took place in The 19th century can be prepared in several ways, but then the official recipe of the International Association of Bartenders ( IBA ) is presented.


* Ingredients : white rum (3 centiliters); natural pineapple juice (9 centiliters); coconut milk (3 centiliters); ice.


* Preparation : Basically, all ingredients, including ice (which should be chopped in advance) should be placed in a blender or shaker, and shake the container so that the mixture is produced.It is then served in a glass (preferably in one Hurricane ) and decorated with a cherry, a cherry or a small pineapple slice.It is important to note that it is not appropriate to add sugar.
